Microgroms
Microgroms Surf Club runs 10 surfing competitions for surfers under the age of 18 every year. The club is focussed on giving young South Australian surfers the skills to be competitive at the state, national and international level and creating a supportive environment where young surfers can enjoy surfing in competition and meet other kids who love surfing. The club focuses almost exclusively on running competitions, however many parents and kids make friends with others with a similar passion for surfing.
The club typically surfs on Adelaide's Mid Coast or the Victor Harbor area. It makes 1 to 2 trips to the Yorke Peninsula annually. There are 5 sub-divisions:
· A Grade - for the top surfers in the club.
· A2 - Boys compete in the same conditions as A1 in preparation for moving to A Grade.
· A2 - Girls compete in the same conditions as A1 in preparation for moving to A Grade.
The A Grade is contested in the best competitive waves available. They have contested at Pondalowie, Baby Chinaman's, Triggs, Waites, Parsons, Middleton Bay, Day St. Cliffs.
· B - Greenwater - for competitors who are comfortable taking off in greenwater and surfing in the pocket and face of a wave.
· B - Whitewater - for beginners who are not yet ready for taking off on green waves and is typically contested close to shore.
B Grade have contested at Rincon, Middleton Beach Breaks, Middleton Pt, Day St, Moana, Baby Chinaman's and Baby Lizards.
B Grade is the preparatory division of the club for the competitors to get used to competition and to develop confidence and is contested in conditions suitable for beginner, young and relatively inexperienced surfers. PLEASE NOTE: even so, the surfer is expected to be able to deal with the water conditions without any assistance in the water and be proficient swimmers.
